Vor gut 1,5 Jahren erschien der ZX Spectrum-Emulator Vega. Dieser bestand aus einem kompakten Controller inklusive der Möglichkeit, über eine microSD-Karte zig tausend Spiele zu laden. Allerdings brauchte man dazu immer einen separaten Bildschirm. Die Modellvariante Vega+ sollte alles besser und jegliches Zubehör überflüssig machen. Doch was ist aus diesem Konzept und der dazugehörigen Crowdfundingkampagne eigentlich geworden? Eine Bestandsaufnahme.
Geld für Retrospielzeug: Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega+
Über eine Crowdfundingkampagne auf der Plattform Indiegogo, wurde auf das Projekt aufmerksam gemacht. Die Idee, einen ZX Spectrum im Handheld-Format herzustellen, kam super an. Jedenfalls bis zum Einsammeln von finanziellen Mitteln. Denn das Ziel von 100.000 Britischen Pfund wurde mit 367 Prozent locker erreicht. Zwei Jahre vorher konnte das erste Vega-Modell auch schon erfolgreich finanziert werden. Warum also, sollte diesmal etwas schiefgehen?
Das tat es allerdings. Und so gab es immer wieder Verzögerungen mit der Fertigstellung von Vega+. Offizieller Auslieferungstermin war September 2016. Mit dem heutigen Datum kam es noch zu keiner Auslieferung der Geräte. Laut BBC wurde die Crowdfundingkampagne gestoppt, da sich die Kritiken häuften und sich der Hersteller „Retro Computers Ltd“ nicht äußerte. Doch letzteres hat sich glücklicherweise geändert. Auf der entsprechenden Projektseite von Indiegogo erschienen nun verschiedene Blogbeiträge. So verkündete „Retro Computers Ltd“ vor fünf Tagen, dass es doch weitergeht. Laut Dr. David Levy (Mitgründer der Firma) gab es in den letzten Monaten verschieden Schwierigkeiten. Diese sind aber nun überwunden. Schließlich hatte man alles versucht, damit das Projekt Vega+ nicht stirbt. Levy und seine Mitarbeiter sind daher guter Hoffnung. Mehr als Abwarten können wir jetzt nicht mehr. Das sag sich die Backer, die etliches an Geld vorgeschossen hatten, aber schon seit Monaten.
